Vercidium - an indie studio based in Sydney, Australia - announces the commercial release of Vercidium Audio, a real-time raytraced audio plugin that gives games realistic muffling, reverb and ambience.
Vercidium Audio simulates how sound travels through 3D environments, muffling through walls and echoing based on geometry and materials. The result is immersive, reactive audio that responds to the world as it changes in real time.
The plugin can also be used to paint sound on the world, giving deaf players a 3D representation of sound around them.
Vercidium Audio is available now and runs on most platforms and browsers, with a free download for non-commercial products. Godot and Unreal Engine plugins are planned for late 2026, followed by console SDKs afterwards.
"I built the audio system for Sector's Edge and realised there's nothing like this available for indie devs. I want every game to have audio that sounds realistic and immersive."
